Parbhani, Oct 7 (SocialNews.XYZ) Shiv Sena Chief Leader and Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Wednesday said that the party would not abandon the state's farmers and "beloved sisters" during the drought and that the government would not hold back when it came to extending support to the farming community.
Reiterating the government's commitment to farmers, Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde assured that steps would be taken to halt loan recovery, facilitate loan restructuring and ensure fodder supplies.
He said Shiv Sena would dedicate itself fully to supporting farmers and their families through the ongoing crisis.
He was speaking at the launch of the 'Seva Se Samarpan' (Service through Dedication) initiative by Shiv Sena across the state to mark Prime Minister Narendra Modi's completion of 25 years in public service.
Under the initiative, Shiv Sena will distribute 25,000 bicycles to farmers' children and 25,000 sewing machines to women, besides providing 'Anandacha Shidha' (festive ration kits) and other essential items to farmers and families in need.
The party will also organise community weddings and inaugurate 25 ambulances.
Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde personally distributed bicycles to farmers' children and sewing machines to women.
Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde said Maharashtra is facing a serious drought situation and acknowledged the difficulties being faced by farmers and women across the state.
He said Shiv Sena has resolved to stand firmly with farmers and their families during this difficult period.
"Farmers' Diwali will not be allowed to turn bleak because of the drought crisis," he said, reiterating the commitment to provide essential support to affected families.
He said that despite his busy schedule, Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a one-hour discussion with him, with nearly half the discussion focused on Maharashtra's drought situation and the welfare of women.
The Prime Minister, he said, assured all possible assistance to the state.
Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde added that the state government has already declared a drought and that the entire state Cabinet had visited fields, met farmers and heard their grievances.
He appealed to all political parties to put aside political considerations and work together for the welfare of farmers.
He said that while there are other platforms for political activity, Shiv Sena would devote 100 per cent of its efforts to social service during the present crisis instead of the usual 80 per cent.
He appealed to farmers not to lose hope and assured them that the government and Shiv Sena would stand with them through the difficult period.
Speaking about Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 25 years of public service, Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde said that India has been steadily moving towards becoming an economic superpower since 2014.
He said India's economy has risen from the 10th to the fourth position globally under PM Modi's leadership and highlighted his guiding principle of "Nation First".
He said PM Modi has completed 25 years in public life, serving the country as Chief Minister and Prime Minister, and has remained steadfast despite repeated allegations from the opposition.
He further added that under PM Modi's leadership, India gave a befitting response to Pakistan through Operation Sindoor following the Pahalgam terror attack.
